All of Salal’s support services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL. They understand that not every survivor’s journey looks the same, which is why Salal provides a variety of support services, including emergency crisis support, hospital accompaniment, criminal legal system support, Elder support, individual counselling, support circles, workshops, and more. All Salal programs and services are developed in collaboration with the communities they serve. Their team is comprised of people with lived experience within these communities to ensure that every aspect of their operations includes the voices of BIPOC individuals, people of marginalized and gender-diverse identities, and people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds.

What is Sexualized Violence?

Sexual violence is an overarching term that describes any form of violence, involving or not involving contact, that uses the means of sexuality to perpetuate harm. Sexual violence is centred in power and control, taking many different forms including:

• Sexual abuse
• Rape
• Incest
• Catcalling
• Stalking
• Consent Through Coercion (guilt, threats, etc.).

• Sexual assault
• Indecent or sexualized exposure
• Degrading sexual imagery
• Cyber harassment
• Trafficking
• Substance facilitated sexual assault
